Dear Church Family,

I hope you have been able to engage in our devotional readings for advent. Even if you find it hard to read it everyday, feel free to pick and choose what you would like to read. The important point is to spend some time in scripture and to spend time with God! I have been reflecting on yesterday’s reading (page 14) about Zechariah. The question about silence and why God silenced his voice is still on my mind.  The devotional talks about the silencing of Zechariah’s voice and how the silence pushed him out from the center. The author described it as “de-centering” Zachariah. This is powerful! Sometimes we have to get out of the way, let go of preconceived ideas, stop planning for every detail and let God take over. For Zachariah, God did take over and it ended up that Zachariah experienced God in a whole new way. Zachariah experienced God in a restorative, healing way.  May a little more silence come our way so we can see and experience God too!

Don’t forget this Sunday is the “Christmas Cantata.” You won’t want to miss our choir performing an array of Christmas music to fill our hearts and prepare us for the coming of Christ!

Advent Blessings,
Pastor Barbara

Luke 2:1-7

2 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

The EGPC food pantry continues to serve our community and our volunteers remain faithful in their service to us. We are committed to adhering to all precautionary measures to ensure no cross-contamination with clients. The Food Pantry Donation drop box always seems to be filled. As you check on your neighbors, please share with them that our food pantry is open and ready to help anyone who needs food!

Food continues to appear in our food box.  Almost daily there is something donated and many times from people we don’t even know! I want to send a special thanks to all those faithful shoppers who each week pick up the special things we need. It is an ongoing blessing to be so graciously supported by your donations and donations from our community.
