“Humility and Vulnerability”

2 Timothy 4:9-18

Do your best to come to me soon, 10 for Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful in my ministry. 12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments. 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will pay him back for his deeds. 15 You also must beware of him, for he strongly opposed our message.
16 At my first defense no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! 17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Dear Church Family,

We continue with our summer series called, “I’ve been meaning to ask…what do you need?” Have you ever had someone ask you this very question? What do you need? We’re not used to being asked such an important question. Questions like this give us the opportunity to look inward and really think about what it “is” that we need. I believe we are so used to answering questions in superficial ways that we often don’t even let ourselves think more deeply about what it is we really need.
“I’ve been meaning to ask…what do you need?” What would you say? Maybe you would answer this by saying, I need someone to come and visit me or I need someone to listen to me, or I need someone to hear my story of grief, or sadness or pain. Or maybe you simply need to rest, take time off from work, learn to play and have fun. We are knit together as people who need each other to help us in our journey through life. And it takes both humility and honesty to say what we really need! WHAT DO YOU NEED?

Hope to see you Sunday!

May God’s peace surround you,
Pastor Barbara

This Sunday we continue with our sermon series titled:
“I’ve been meaning to ask…

Humility and Honesty

This Sunday we will be looking at the Epistle 2 Timothy. It is a letter written by Paul to Timothy, a colleague and friend. In this letter the very character of Paul is revealed to us. He is both honest and humble in expressing his very needs. I’ve been thinking about how difficult it is sometimes to say to others what we really need. And even in this hesitancy to share, I don’t think we always know what we need. Paul teaches us that it is natural and important to say what we really need and know that those who love us and care about us will understand and try to help fulfill our need. We need one another to make it through this sometimes difficult and challenging life. We were never created to journey through life alone.

WORSHIP IS NOW IN PERSON! WE WILL ALSO CONTINUE OUR LIVE STREAMING!
The service can be viewed on our Facebook page and on our YouTube channel.

Our Church Community is setting aside time to pray for our New Beginnings process. Wherever you are feel free to stop and join in with your church family for prayer at 7:00 am or 7:00 pm.

Our church garden continues to give us beautiful colors!

The Women’s Bible Study has ended for the summer. But we will begin a new study in the fall looking at the book “Friendship of Women: the Hidden Tradition of the Bible.”  Maybe in the fall you might be interested in joining this wonderful group of women. All are welcome!

We are committed to adhering to all precautionary measures to ensure no cross-contamination with clients. The Food Pantry Donation drop box always seems to be filled. As you check on your neighbors, please share with them that our food pantry is open and ready to help anyone who needs food!

Food continues to appear in our food box.  Almost daily there is something donated and many times from people we don’t even know! I want to send a special thanks to all those faithful shoppers who each week pick up the special things we need. It is an ongoing blessing to be so graciously supported by your donations and donations from our community.
