Dear Church Family,

This Sunday is our big “Rally Day!” It is our kick off for the fall season and it is also the time when we begin new worship and educational opportunities. The choir along with Cindy Lam will be present and providing music and we are beginning a sermon series “Faces of our Faith.” We also have a wonderful fellowship time planned out by our hospitality/mission committees. Following worship you are invited to enjoy lunch together with “walking tacos.” We are hoping some of our neighbors will be joining us too!

We  are “A Church on the Move!”

The Women’s Bible study will begin next Tuesday on Sept. 14th.  Feel free to invite neighbors or friends. On Sept 12th we will begin a new adult education series focused on spiritual reflections on individual life experiences. The series is called “Nooma” and the word comes from a phonetic spelling of the Greek word pneuma meaning “wind”, “spirit” or “breath”. Sounds interesting doesn’t it?  I hope you will join us after worship for these moving spiritual reflections. No book is required and each week will be a totally different topic so come as it fits into your schedule.

I always keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

God’s peace,
Pastor Barbara

Genesis 2:15-10

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Time of Discovery

This Sunday I will be preaching on Genesis 2:15-25 and it is section about the creation of the world and especially of humans.  We will be looking at Adam and Eve. Instead of looking at the details of this story what we will explore is what Adam and Eve discovered about themselves and their relationship to God. And connected to this who is our own lives teaches us about the same things. Looking at the characters in the bible such as Adam and Eve, open our eyes to see how our journey of faith is a process. We learn as we go along…in other words, we are always learning and growing.
See you Sunday!

Huge thanks to Bob Russow and Bob Gorsky for constructing our yard sign!

Everyone is invited to this Bible Study! You do not have to attend church or be a member!

The upstairs is quickly being transformed into our new “Community Clothing Ministry.”  Thanks to Jo Gray for her hard work! Assistant Linda Mueller too!

I get calls on a regular basis for families in need. Maybe it is a week in a motel, meals or clothes. When you contribute to this “Houseless Initiative Fund,” you become partners if serving those who are desperately in need. See donate button below and join with me in changing lives!

The EGPC food pantry continues to serve our community and our volunteers remain faithful in their service to us. We are committed to adhering to all precautionary measures to ensure no cross-contamination with clients. The Food Pantry Donation drop box always seems to be filled. As you check on your neighbors, please share with them that our food pantry is open and ready to help anyone who needs food!

Food continues to appear in our food box.  Almost daily there is something donated and many times from people we don’t even know! I want to send a special thanks to all those faithful shoppers who each week pick up the special things we need. It is an ongoing blessing to be so graciously supported by your donations and donations from our community.
